Amsterdam witnessed a spectacular performance as Michael van Gerwen finally returned to the winner’s circle, claiming the 2025 World Series of Darts Finals title with an 11–7 victory over Luke Littler in the final.

This was Van Gerwen’s first televised PDC title in two years, bringing an end to a long wait. The triumph marked his sixth World Series Finals crown and proved that he still belongs among the very best when it matters most.

The tournament featured several impressive displays from Van Gerwen, but it was the quarter-final against World No. 1 and reigning World Champion Luke Humphries that stood out. Humphries entered as the favourite, but Van Gerwen came out firing, averaging over 100 and producing clinical finishing to secure a convincing 10–5 win. It was a performance that reignited his confidence and set the tone for the rest of the event.

In the semi-finals he defeated Josh Rock 11–6, before facing the teenage sensation Littler in the final.

The final began at a furious pace, with Van Gerwen opening with a maximum and taking the first leg on double four. Littler battled back to 6–6, but from that point on Van Gerwen shifted gears, stringing legs together and taking control of the match. Backed by a passionate home crowd, he sealed the title with a stunning 130 checkout on double top.

Speaking afterwards, Van Gerwen described the win as hugely important, especially in front of his home fans. He admitted it took real determination to rediscover the focus and motivation needed after such a long spell without lifting a trophy.
