Luke Littler continues to prove why he’s considered the best darts player in the world, winning the prestigious World Matchplay of Darts 2025. In the thrilling final, he defeated James Wade 18-13.

Despite a stellar performance from James Wade, it was clear from the start that World Matchplay 2025 belonged to Luke Littler. Similar to his previous matches, Littler had a challenging start, quickly trailing 5-0 by the first break. However, by the second break, Littler had impressively evened the score at 5-5.

No matter how well Wade performed, Littler consistently had a better answer, showcasing world-class darts throughout the match. In the final, James Wade averaged 101.54, while Luke Littler achieved an impressive 107.24 average. Littler ended the match in style with a spectacular 115 checkout, the highest checkout of the final.

This victory marked Luke Littler’s first-ever World Matchplay title, making him the youngest champion in the tournament’s history. Littler earned a prize of £200,000, while James Wade took home £100,000 for second place.

Wade’s strong performance elevated him three spots in the world rankings, placing him now at number 5.
