The World Cup of Darts is a unique darts competition in many ways, but above all, it is the only PDC event where players compete in teams. The World Cup of Darts 2025 will be the 15th edition of the tournament, with a total of 40 nations participating.
England enters the World Cup of Darts as the heavy favorites. They are also the reigning champions after defeating the surprise team Austria in the 2024 final. On that occasion, England was represented by Michael Smith and Luke Humphries. This time, England’s team consists of world number one Luke Humphries and world number two Luke Littler. The country closest to having two such highly ranked players is Wales, represented by Jonny Clayton and Gerwyn Price, ranked 6th and 9th in the world, respectively.
Of the 40 nations participating in the World Cup of Darts, 13 have both players holding PDC tour cards, an additional 10 nations have one player with a PDC tour card, and the remaining 17 nations are represented by two players without PDC tour cards.
Argentina is the only nation making its debut in this year’s World Cup of Darts, having won the South and Central America qualifier for the tournament.
The four highest-ranked nations (England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland) are directly qualified for the knockout stages. The remaining 36 countries will be divided into 12 groups of 3 nations each. The group winners advance to the knockout stages.
The most significant absence from the tournament in terms of star players is Michael van Gerwen, who has chosen to decline participation and will therefore not represent the Netherlands. Instead, the Netherlands’ team will consist of Danny Noppert and Gian van Veen.
The prize money for the World Cup of Darts 2025 is as follows, with the total amount shared between the two players:

- Semifinals: £30,000
- Quarterfinals: £20,000
