The main challengers to dethrone England at this year’s World Cup of Darts look to be none other than Wales. The 2023 champions once again field the dynamic duo of Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton.

Ranking: 2
Players: Gerwyn Price / Jonny Clayton

Second-seeded Wales enter the 2025 tournament in great form. Gerwyn Price has already claimed three Players Championship titles and won three Premier League nights—two of which included perfect 9-darters. Jonny Clayton also arrives in strong shape, having won the European Tour event in Rosmalen and reached the semifinals in Leverkusen.

Last year, Price withdrew after the group draw, forcing Jim Williams to step in on short notice. The result was a surprise early exit in the Round of 16 as Croatia stunned Wales with an 8–6 victory.

If there’s any team capable of challenging England for the World Cup title, it’s Wales—Price’s explosive scoring paired with Clayton’s world-class finishing from 85–130 make them a serious threat.
