One of the most exciting countries in this year’s World Cup of Darts is Ireland. Will they be able to get revenge for the heartbreaking loss to Taiwan in last year’s tournament?

Ranking: 8
Players: William O’Connor / Keane Barry

In what was arguably the most dramatic and high-quality group stage match of last year’s tournament, Ireland were knocked out by Taiwan. The Irish players were understandably disappointed, especially as they entered the tournament as genuine medal contenders. This year, we can expect a highly motivated duo in O’Connor and Barry who are determined not to repeat that outcome.

Both O’Connor and the young Keane Barry have shown they’re capable of hitting high peaks. However, Barry has had a tough start to 2025, making it past the second round in the Players Championship just once in 13 attempts.

On the other hand, William O’Connor has had a much stronger year so far, reaching two quarter-finals in the Players Championship and making it to the sixth round of the UK Open. If the Irish team can hit the ground running, there are high hopes for this pair in the tournament.
