The Netherlands and Austria made a big impression on the opening day of the World Cup of Darts.

This year’s World Cup of Darts began with Sweden defeating Lithuania 4–1. What stood out most in Sweden’s match was Oskar Lukasiak’s consistent finishing.

In the highly unpredictable Group K, Japan came back from a 1–3 deficit to win 4–3 against Croatia. Now, Croatia will need to beat Switzerland and then hope that Switzerland defeats Japan to advance.
Two teams stood out a little extra on the first evening of the World Cup of Darts — the Netherlands and Austria.
The Netherlands, with Danny Noppert and World Cup debutant Gian van Veen, won 4–0 against last year’s surprise team, Italy. Both Noppert and van Veen seemed to enjoy playing together, and it really felt like no one in the Netherlands would miss Michael van Gerwen this weekend.
Last year’s finalists, Austria, also delivered a great team performance, beating Spain 4–1 with an impressive average of 99.38. Today, Group H will be decided as Australia enters the tournament, but with that performance, Austria has already taken the driver’s seat in the group.
