Nathan Aspinall produced a stunning display at Players Championship 31 in Wigan on October 14, 2025, hitting two nine-darters in the same tournament. Despite the remarkable achievement, “The Asp” fell short in the final, losing 8–2 to Jermaine Wattimena.
Aspinall’s first nine-darter came in round two against Steve Lennon, where he finished the perfect leg with a classic 141 checkout. The second followed later in the last 16 against Lukas Wenig, repeating the feat after trailing early in the match.
Throwing a nine-darter is rare enough – doing it twice on the same day puts Aspinall in elite company. It’s not the first time in darts history, though: Phil Taylor famously hit two nine-darters in the same match during the 2010 Premier League final against James Wade, and a handful of players have since matched the achievement.
Aspinall continued his fine form throughout the day, reaching the final before Wattimena proved too strong. Still, it was the two perfect legs that stole the spotlight.
“Hitting two nine-darters in one day is something I’ve always dreamed of,” Aspinall said after the event. “It’s a great feeling and shows that my game is in a really good place right now.”
