For the first time in many years, Australia is not seeded in the group stage of the World Cup of Darts. The former world champion duo Heta and Whitlock will have to fight hard to repeat their 2022 victory.

Players: Simon Whitlock / Damon Heta
Ranking: 17

In 2022, the pair Heta and Whitlock went all the way to win, but since then they have not been able to reach the same level. Last year, they suffered a very surprising loss to Italy in the round of 16. This year, Simon Whitlock has lost his PDC tour card, and for that reason, they enter this year’s tournament unseeded. The draw placed them in Group H alongside Spain and Austria. Australia will skip the first match, meaning they will play both of their group matches on Friday, June 13.

If Heta can lift his partner Whitlock, there is definitely a chance for Australia to advance from the group and even progress a few rounds further. We don’t believe they will go all the way, but these are two experienced veterans who absolutely should not be underestimated. A plus for the TV audience is that the pairs enter the stage together, so hopefully we will get to see Heta bouncing around on the stage before matches begin.
